About Len
I’m Lenny, restorer by trade and owner of Tye River Restoration. My civilian career started in 2021, when I was hired by a small woodshop in Amherst, Virginia, to build cabinet parts. Prior to that, I served six years in the Army National Guard as an artilleryman and field medic. I didn’t reenlist in the Army because I felt guided by the Lord to become a woodworker.
After learning the foundations of fine woodworking, I was hired by a prominent architectural woodshop in Lynchburg, where I built furniture, doors, and stair parts. Wanting to broaden my skillset, I began working in the evenings at a furniture restoration shop. It was there that I found a passion for restoring not just the physical piece, but also its’ history.
Over the next two years, I developed my own apprenticeship by working for three furniture restoration shops across Central Virginia. I resorted hundreds of antique and vintage pieces while working alongside master craftsmen in the trade. In 2024, I established Tye River Restoration, where I continued servicing my community’s antiques and family heirlooms.
